Club updates and events / Spring Break update
Last post by Monty - Mar 12, 2025, 09:40 PM
Hello all,
This is a reminder about parking in the central parking area on the south side.  To park there be sure to display either a parking tag or put your lot number and name on a piece of paper near your registration sticker on your dash.  Don't Park in front of any of the entrances or in any of the fire lanes or in the roads.  Violators are going to be tagged with a violation sticker and repeat offenders will be booted and fined $50 cash to remove the boot.  Do not park in anyone else's lot without their permission.  Parking will be at a premium over spring break and into Spring.

The roll off dumpster got full freeze debris and has been removed.  There are two dumpsters that get emptied twice a week automatically.  We are monitoring them daily in person and via web cams that record 24/7.  If they need to be emptied earlier, we will call that in for the next weekday.  Do not leave anything on the ground in the dumpster area, period.   That includes trash and trash bags.  The contractor will not dump our dumpsters if anything is even near them.  Don't put teardowns, a/c's, appliances or any other prohibited item in the dumpster.
It's much cheaper to have extra dumps on the two dumpsters than to pay $1300 for the roll off. We try to save membership dues every chance we get.

The septic system maintenance is complete.  We resealed the tanks for odor control, modified one pump's capacity, and we can pump our final tank correctly.  Please stay 100% off the field in the middle of the north side.  It's vital to our system.  We should see reduced odors and standing water with these changes.   The rainwater pumps are being reinstalled due to the water table floating them in a recent deluge.  Weight is going to be added all around them to solve this issue.  These pumps are high efficiency pumps with low power usage as recommended by Glenn Booker, our VP.

Mowing season is upon us.  Keep your lots cut per the rules.  Fines are issued per day of continued violations and for having the Club paying for them to be mowed.  Be sure you pay your contractor if you use one.  Not being paid is the number one reason they don't show up.  Everyone that is a member agreed to follow Club rules.  This is the most violated rule.
We have some nice memberships up for sale.  Please tell your friends about us.

Our contacts are shown on our website at www.tcclub.info  Our Facebook page is at https://www.facebook.com/groups/568637784617363 and is for members only.  The beach cam is at https://tcclub.info/cam.html with the link to the weather station on S110 t the bottom.
The next TCC event is April 19th from 11:00 to 1:00 at the Club House.  There is an Easter Egg hunt planned with a spaghetti lunch.  Contact Curtis if you want to bring something or help out.  We turned in our order for pretty weather early this time.  Fingers crossed.

There is a new compressed air station at the barn by the pool to blow up floaties and tires with.  Please roll up the hose.  The pool opens on Mother's Day Weekend.

The issue with dogs left outside barking is with us again.  Nonaggressive dogs are allowed, but leaving them outside barking is not allowed.  Bring them in or leave them at home.  Pick up poop from your dog.  Pet owners are responsible for their pets.  They must be leashed, licensed and up to date on all shots and wear tags.

Let Will know if you need help with snakes, possums or racoons.  Be aware that we have seen coyotes on our webcams.  Watch where you step for snakes.  They love stairs and underdecks and sheds.  Some rather large ones feed off our many rabbits have been seen in  Camp in the past.

Be sure to turn off your water when not at camp. We monitor this daily.  Water left running causes major issues with our septic and fines are issued to violators. Locking your water valve is suggested.  We now have a sewer cam and pipe locator that only Patrick operates to find leaks and plugs.  We are still finding wipes in our pumps.  Do not flush anything down the drains unless you eat it first.  That and PT only.  These wipes clog our lines and burn out our pumps.

The palms trees will be trimmed around Memorial Day again this year.   We will need access to any behind locked gates and will cut down any requested inside lot lines.  This process is essential to minimizing storm damages.

Sincerely,
Monty Weeks, Club President

Hello fellow Campgrounds Club members,

The event planned for Saturday that Curtis had planned is cancelled due to weather concerns.  The next event will be next month.
Temperatures in camp are finally back above freezing and are expected to continue.  There is still ice and snow on the ground presently, so City water service will be restored by staff beginning Thursday morning.  Any breaks we find may require interruptions of water service for up to an hour at a time.  All water mains to each individual campground site will be left off.  When you return to camp, please notify Patrick directly of any concerns or leaks at 903-263-9873.  Members are responsible for repairs to any leaks beyond their main water shutoff valve.  Contact Tim or a plumber if you need help with those types of issues at 409-370-3001.  Many doors to campers are still frozen shut this morning.  Power is on. If you see any water leaks in Camp going forward, contact Patrick.
The Campground will be providing a roll off dumpster for freeze damaged plants and other related items.  Anything going into the two small dumpsters must be bagged in trash bags.  No tires or other prohibited items are allowed in the roll off dumpster.  No contractor tear downs are allowed either.    Contact Monty at 832-557-8561 with concerns via text or respond to this email to contact the entire BOD at once by replying to this email.  All contacts are listed on the website at www.tcclub.info.
We hope everyone made a safe passage through this unprecedented record setting event.

The forecast is now calling for a hard freeze Monday and Tuesday so we will be implementing the freeze plan. Water will be off starting on Monday afternoon until the forecast lows are above freezing again. Wishing all safe passage through this impending mess.  If we lose power, septic will also be down.

The 8am forecast shows continued improvement for next week. If this trend holds, I am going to cancel the plans to shut down on Monday. It will also mean no damage to our oleanders and palms along with all of our plants. Yea!

The forecast has moderated a bit thanks to clouds and rain on Tuesday. This forecast is specific to my station at my trailer and was posted at 8. The next update will be tomorrow at 11am. Stay tuned.

Hello fellow Campgrounds Club Members,

The forecast for Jamaica Beach for next week is calling for the outside temperatures at Camp to go below freezing on Monday night and is expected to stay below freezing until Thursday morning. City water is going to be turned off to the entire campground at the main Monday afternoon to remove the backflow preventer and drain the water lines. Water will not be available during this time, which is 12:00 PM Monday to 12:00 PM Thursday. Power will also likely fail, as it normally does, and the septic system pumps don't run without power. So, septic will likely be out as well. The Campground will be closed for camping from 12:00 noon on Monday until 12:00 noon on Thursday. It's also likely the causeway will close as well. We instituted this plan during the last major freeze, and it saved thousands of dollars in repairs to fix broken pipes and replace the backflow preventor.

We are encouraging members to come down this weekend to prepare their trailers by draining their tanks and draining all water that they can. In particular, the blue inline water filters will explode that most of us use. Drain your faucets and shower heads of water. Staff will be removing water hose connected water lines at the tee to open valves. If you hard piped your water, expect to find it broken and turned off when you return.  Digitally controlled heaters normally don't reset after a power interruption, so don't count on them staying on if the power goes off, even briefly. If you require assistance before Monday, reach out to Tim or staff or friends to help you. Staff will not be on duty during the closure.

Should the forecast radically change between now and Monday, we will update members via email, on Facebook and on the website. The Internet may not work if we lose power, or lines go down during this event. If that happens, internet updates will not be available.

Wishing all safe passage through this event,

Your BOD.
