Club updates and events / power update, camp is open
Last post by Monty - Jul 15, 2024, 07:42 PM
Hello all,
Power is back on for the entire Campgrounds now.  The septic system is full of saltwater and is being pumped to the leach field.  Stay off the leach field while it's wet.  There doesn't appear to be any damage to our pumps, and we have spares for them, just in case.  The campground is open for members camping and cleanup.  The big dumpster is located in the dumpster enclosure on the north side of the Campground.  Give the septic system several hours to catch up.

Hello all,
Power to the south side of camp has been restored.  Power to the northside of camp remains off.  The Septic system runs off north side power, so it remains off.
Water is off until power is restored.  Using the septic system with power off will cause the lines from the trailers to the tanks to stop up requiring roto routing and making even more work.  Do not put anything down the septic system until we get power back to the north side.  CP is working on that diligently.
Camp is mostly picked up except for fence panels, and skirting panels.  Sand can be moved to the front off your lot in the street for pickup.  Patrick will also pick up bagged debris.  It has to be bagged.  The dumpsters all have room in them with the little ones being emptied on Mondays and Fridays.
Camp remains very wet with the water table just below the surface of the ground.  Rain is predicted later this week.
Until power is restored to the north side, overnight camping is not allowed.  Once it is restored, a notice will be given via email and posted on tcclub.info in the bottom section of notices.

Club updates and events / 2nd post storm update
Last post by Monty - Jul 11, 2024, 04:53 PM
Hello all,
This is the second post storm update.  Both small dumpsters were emptied today and are being filled back up.  The big roll off dumpster is in place and is nearly empty.  The porta potties are in place at the clubhouse.  All the roads are clear and passable.  Most but not all of the water breaks have been fixed. As they pop up, they are fixed.  The water is still on and off to fix the breaks.  We got two inches of rain in camp today.  It's very wet.  The front road is being redone with collected sand.  Members moving sand need to put it on the roads and Patrick will collect it with the tractor and move it to the beach.  The pool is turning green from being off and it will take several days to recover once power is back up. Centerpoint is setting the timeline at two weeks for power to come back on.  They have 6000 extra boots on the ground during/for the duration of that quest.  The fence repairs have been contracted and will begin next week.  Tim is collecting the blown off metal pieces and hauling them to reclaim.  The staff is working on collecting all the broken fence pieces and moving them to the dumpster.
Key takeaways:  Power is off, water is on and off, septic is off, camp is very wet with new rain, overnight camping is not allowed, generators may be run to make repairs during the day as long as they are supervised.  The next update will be when we have more information to pass along, probably on Monday.

Hello all,
The Campground took significant damage due to the storm.  Several trailers along the front row are damaged, some beyond repair.  One of the worst ones is sitting on top of a broken water main that Tim is removing to give access for repairs to the main.  The front sand fence was damaged.  There are several sections of fence on our perimeter that are down and will need repairs.  Power is off and will likely be weeks, not days away from being restored.  Without power, septic is down.  Water is still standing all over camp especially on the north side.  The surge came very close to going in the pool.  The pool is closed until the power comes back on.  So, we have no power, water is hit and miss, no septic, no showers or restrooms, no place to put debris on the south side due to a low hanging wire on 3005,
No overnight camping is allowed until further notice.
The first roll off dumpster will be set on the north side on Wednesday along with two porta potties near the clubhouse.
All the traffic lights on 61rst street are out.  Most of the fast-food places are shut down.  There re broken off power poles hanging by the wires on 3005.  As of today, the line crews are working near the State Park and going towards Camp.  There are at least 3 or 4 member power poles broken off with wires hanging.
All of this is going to take some time to repair, likely well into August.  No generators are to be run in camp except to make repairs during the day.  Again, no overnight camping is allowed until power is completely restored.   Seven seas took a big hit too and were closed today.  So, no food or drinks from them yet.  Bring your own with you.
More emails will go out as needed.  My power lines at home broke and were laying across my driveway until 11PM last night.  My internet just came up and my phone came back on today.  Do not pile anything along the roads.  Sand may be moved to the beach and spread out.

Hello all,
This weekend is the 4th of July and has historically been a challenge to deal with fireworks and fires.  It's a City of Galveston rule with a $500 fine for even possessing fireworks.  It's also against the campground bylaws and is subject to a $2000 fine.  We will be enforcing these rules through the end of the holiday and the police will be called on violators.  Shooting fireworks or lighting a fire on the beach is also a $500 City fine.
Be sure to take down any tents or canopies on the beach at the end of the day.  The City will remove any of them still on the beach every night around 2AM.  They keep them.
Recently we had guests of guests in our camp.  This is not allowed.  Members can invite guests and they must be registered at register@tcclub.info by the member shown on our ledger.  Nonregistered guests will be asked to leave the campground.  Registered guests must follow the rules at  https://tcclub.info/bbfiles/Guest_Rules_Sheet.pdf
