Last week, I was notified that my webhost of 25 years is going bankrupt and that all the sites they host would be going dark on the 14th. Unfortunately, that notice landed in my spam folder and went unseen for 3 days until I was cleaning it out. I have two major websites hosted there and the one of that is ours could not be transferred intact despite several attempts to make it run on our new webhosts servers. After spending the better part of two days trying to make what we had run again, it simply would not.
I managed to turn the old site back on and retrieved as much data as I could via broswer copy and paste to our new website. Our new URL is www.tcclub.info. The old site URL should begin working again in a couple of days once the DNS records update on the 14 worldwide servers that control such things. The first thing you will notice about the new website is that it has been trimmed to everything we need and little else. I plan to continue to update it over the next few weeks, but after spending from 9am to 11pm Sunday working on it, I need a few days break from dealing with html and php coding. There isn't a members section just yet and the only thing that will be in it once it does come back to life is a clean copy of the bylaws and copies of these updates. If you want to be added to my mailist, send your request directly to me at montyweeks@gmail.com. The email to send guest registrations to is register@tcclub.info Suggestions go to suggestions@tcclub.info and to mail the entire BOD all at once, use bod@tcclub.info. All of the emails in the old mail system were retrieved right before it went down ahead of everything going dark. I am going to add all the primary and secondary emails we have on file in the membership ledger before the next time I mail to everyone. As far as I know, I transfered all of the memberships for sale to the new site and they are now broken down by north side and south side. If you need your membership listed, mail pics and text to montyweeks@gmail.com and I will post them for you. Once I get the chance to get caught up, I will offer custom log ins for the new information portal. Any questions or comments can be sent by replying to this email or sent to bod@tcclub.info. Individual BOD contact information is listed on https://tcclub.info/bb/index.php?topic=31.0 and at the bottom of this email. Monty
In other Campground news, our new entrance streetlights have been installed and they cost the club $5 each per month and Centerpoint maintains them. They are bright LED's and should hold up well. Patrick did all the leg work in getting them installed and it was a member's suggestion that got it all started.
The pool cleaning day is Tuesday and the pool is open early for everyone to enjoy in this unreal heat we are having.
The first ten water meters have been installed and we will start reding them once a month next month. The plan is to install them on the beach side and gradually work north. Patrick is doing the installs himself. We hope to be able to account for all the water we are billed for once all the meters are in place.
Elizabeth's husband, Bobby, called the realtor selling the property around us on the north side and they want $400,000 +- for the ten acres we need to address the septic issue. According to Ben, this debate has been going on since the 80's when prices were $10,000 per acre. Add to that, $250-350K to either put in our own sewer plant or an aerobic system and realistically we need 3/4 of a million dollars to bail us out. Members are going to have to decide if we want to keep putting Band-Aids on this problem or go with a real fix. We have right at 90K in reserve right now and that amount is going to be typical of what we can raise per year with the current membership rates. By the time we save it up at that rate, we will never outpace inflation for this project.
North side members, we haven't forgotten about the drainage issues and have inquiries in about pumping stations as a fix to get water to run uphill. Current projections on subsidence and rising Gulf levels put that rate at 2 less feet of elevation by 2030. Most of Camp is at sea level with some of the raised lots at 3 feet above sea level. Members are encouraged to raise their lots as much as practical to stay ahead of rising water levels.
